Welcome to the
United Kingdom Taekwon-Do Dojangs

Tae Kwon-Do [TKD] is a modern form of self-defence designed by General Choi Hong Hi, in 1955. It is distinguished from more traditional arts in its utilisation of the body in a scientific way for the purpose of self-defence. Tae Kwon-Do’s dynamic kicks and extensive hand techniques provides a proven and effective system of self-defence and has been adopted by police and military forces around the world.

The training programme aims to: -

›› Improve physical fitness
›› Enhance Muscle strength, toning, body conditioning and flexibility
›› Build self-confidence and self-control
›› Facilitate improved weight control
›› Assist in stress alleviation and its management
›› Instil positive mental development

As a form of self-defence women especially will find TKD a valuable asset. As an exercise, it is equally suitable for the old and young, male and female. For many students the classes help them to alleviate stress whilst having a varied and interesting workout. For those at school or college TKD can be a most effective way of refreshing the student after many hours of academic study and helping them to regain their focus on studies. TKD has become a useful tool in assisting victims of bullying to redevelop their self-confidence and self-esteem, especially those at school. For the above reasons TKD has become one of the fastest growing martial arts in the world with over 40 million practitioners in 120 countries.

Classes are open to both men and women and junior classes are available for children age 5 and above. Beginners are welcome to join classes throughout the year and classes are also open during school half term times. Please note that all classes are mixed male and female classes.

The training programme is designed to progressively develop an unfit student who trains regularly to a very high standard of physical fitness in only a few months. Twice a week or more of training at classes is recommended although some benefits may still be attained by only one session per week.

Besides the training aspect, these classes are also an excellent way to meet new people, interact socially and make new friends who have a similar interest to you.
